Career Pathways

We offer rigorous courses that offer students unique opportunities to learn and become involved in two different career pathways giving students preparedness for involvement in specialized high school programming.

Are you interested in becoming a veterinarian, a nurse, a doctor, or a medical technician? Longs Peak now has an elective class that will introduce you to all of what this exciting field has to offer! As part of this class you will get to perform experiments, practice hands-on scientific skills, hear from guest speakers with careers in medicine, and have a step up if you would like to continue your journey by applying to the MBSA program at Longmont High School! This quarter long elective course is offered to 7th and 8th grade students.

Business: Students will learn about the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, exploring concepts like product development, marketing strategies, and financial management. They engage in hands-on activities such as creating business plans, conducting market research, and even launching their own mini-business ventures. Students participate in a business economy system to learn skills like increasing cash flow, investments, and revenue by such things as being on time, turning in work on time, and participation in activities. Through these experiences, students develop essential skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, and problem solving- preparing them for future real-world endeavors.

Shark Tank/Product Design: In this advanced entrepreneurship course, students take on leadership roles and deepen their skills in manufacturing, advertising, communication, and sales. Building on their foundational knowledge, they will refine business strategies, manage production processes, and develop marketing campaigns. Through hands-on experiences, students will enhance their ability to lead teams, analyze market trends, and drive sales, preparing them for real-world business success.

Career Research: Career Research empowers 7th and 8th graders to explore diverse career paths and discover their passions. Students delve into careers of their choice through in-depth research, culminating in a dynamic career fair where they showcase their findings. The class also features guest speakers from various professions, offering students first hand insights into different industries and the skills needed to succeed. This experience helps students make informed decisions about their future educational and career goals.
