5th Grade Art
In 5th grade art students will be introduced to various 2D and 3D art projects that incorporate the principles and elements of art. Manipulating tools and processes, and using observation skills will be emphasized. A wide variety of materials will be explored while learning to think like an artist.
6th Grade Maker Space Course Description
This course will be a creative exploration of various hands-on projects, combining engineering and art. Motorized cardboard contraptions, making music instruments, and various design skills will be implemented. Further possible ranges of projects will include prototyping, woodworking, electronics, or building kinetic machines. The course will be one quarter long.
7th Grade Art Course Description
Students will build on the existing skills learned from the earlier 6th Art course and explore a variety of media including drawing, painting, design and three dimensional forms. Through these methods and mediums students will develop better art skills, methods, and the correct application of art tools. Students will observe, discuss and produce several methods of art production. Students will sculpt, draw and paint, using several different media, while learning to critique their own artwork in written form, reinforcing an ongoing visual vocabulary.
7th Grade iPad Art Course Description
Use your iPad & Logitech Crayons to create projects like word art, murals, collages, landscapes, portraits, & characters. We will be using various design and creation apps on the iPad. If you are looking for a chill, mellow, creative environment, this is the place!
7th & 8th Grade Sketchnoting Course Description
Sketchnoting is a visual form of notetaking that uses creativity to process new learning and help someone to understand new ideas. In this class we will use Sketches Pro & Notability to learn sketchnoting basics and apply them to create sketchnotes that support the learning happening in core classes. If you like being creative and trying new things, this may be the class for you!
8th Grade Sculpture Course Description
This class continues to focus on the thought processes of the artist. Students will learn to make choices, based on the principles and elements of design, while continuing to build on vocabulary and techniques. Many different styles of art will be studied and produced, giving students a wide variety of exposure to artists ideas, motivations and concepts. Various cultures of the world will be studied through the use of their art and why different groups of people create art. Various styles and techniques will be refined and students will have more choice-based projects reflecting their individual interests.
8th Grade Multimedia Course Description
This class will explore various art styles and techniques including digital media, printmaking, drawing and painting, and some sculptural approaches, all while using a variety of mediums and materials combined.
8th Grade Graphic Design Course Description
Use your iPad & Logitech Crayons to create digital media including: A logo for this course and other courses at LPMS, graphic alphabets, app icon redesigns, album art, posters/flyers/advertisements, redesigns of historical masterpieces, and story illustrations. We will be using various design and creation apps on the iPad as well as learn from graphic designers in our community. We will use photography, drawing, painting, & green screen to create visual content. If you are looking for a chill, mellow, creative environment, this is the place!
