Longs Peak Middle School Celebrates New Playgrounds with Community Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On Wednesday, Aug. 14, Longs Peak Middle School celebrated the unveiling of its two new playgrounds with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This event marked the culmination of a years-long, community-driven effort led by Principal Karin Blough, the school’s Wellness Committee, and a student-led Design Committee.

The project was generously funded through the support of Colorado Health Foundation, Longmont United Hospital Foundation, and St. Vrain Valley Schools’ 2024 Bond, which was overwhelmingly supported by voters in the community. These renewed areas provide students with lasting opportunities for connection, growth, and joy, reflecting a true community-wide effort that will benefit generations to come.

Members of the National Junior Honor Society had the honor of cutting the ceremonial ribbon, officially opening the fifth and sixth grade playgrounds, which are located on the north and west sides of the campus. Following the ceremony, students and parents were able to explore the new equipment and enjoy snacks in the sunshine.
